Tyre Examination

We can provide an opinion on the nature of a tyre failure, and whether or not the failure of the tyre was a causal factor in the loss of directional control. We take measurements of the tyre tread at 4 stations around the tyre, measure tyre pressure, test the valve sealing condition, and perform a visual examination on the inner and outer surfaces of the tyre and of the wheel, checking for the presence of punctures, previous punture repairs and wrinkling of the inner liner.

Generally the main issue is whether a tread/belt separation or a casing breakup was caused by a manufacturing defect or by incorrect operation, i.e. overloading or protracted running at low pressure. In most cases, sufficient evidence can be found to provide a reliable opinion as to the probable cause of the failure.
